You are good at what you do. That is not the problem.
The problem is that being good at what you do inside someone else’s structure does not automatically translate into building something of your own. The skills are different. The mindset is different. The risks are different. And almost nobody in the maritime industry teaches you how to make that jump.
That is what I do.
I work with a small number of maritime professionals who are serious about building their own consulting practice, survey business, or advisory work. People who have spent years accumulating expertise that the industry depends on, and who are ready to stop renting that expertise out by the month and start owning the returns on it.
Who I Work With
Ship superintendents. Senior officers. DPAs. Cargo surveyors. Marine engineers. Naval architects. Safety managers. People with ten, fifteen, twenty years of serious maritime experience who have hit the ceiling of employment and know it.
The common thread is not the specific role. It is the depth of expertise and the readiness to use it differently. If you have spent years solving problems that most people cannot even understand, you have the foundation. What you need is the framework for turning that foundation into a practice.
I also work with people who have already started and are stuck. Who built something but cannot seem to grow it past a certain point. Who got their first clients but do not know how to get the next ones. Who are doing good work but not charging what the work is worth. These problems are solvable. I have solved most of them personally.
What Working Together Looks Like
This is not a course. There are no modules, no group calls, no access to a community of strangers.
You get direct access to someone who has done what you are trying to do. We talk about your situation specifically. Your experience, your market, your constraints, what you want to build and by when. We work through the real problems: how to position what you know so the right people recognise its value, how to find your first clients without feeling like you are begging for work, how to price properly, how to build something that grows rather than just replacing the salary you left.
The pace is determined by where you are and what you need. Some people need intensive work at the start to get off the ground quickly. Some need a thinking partner they can check in with as they build. We figure out what fits.
The Sea to Shore Programme
For people who are ready to commit to a structured transition, I run the Sea to Shore programme. It is a focused engagement covering the full arc of building an independent maritime practice: from positioning your expertise through to getting paid properly for it.
It is not for everyone. It is for people who are genuinely ready to move, not just thinking about moving. If that is you, read more about how it works.
Start with a conversation. Tell me where you are. I will tell you honestly whether I can help.
